Greg Sandidge is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department. His practice focuses primarily on intellectual property matters with an emphasis on patent litigation in the areas of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. He has worked on cases in various federal district courts around the country and on appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He joined Goodwin Procter in 2007.
WORK FOR CLIENTS
Mr. Sandidge has advised clients on intellectual property issues in several technological fields, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices and biologics computer science. His experience includes patent litigation, Hatch-Waxman pharmaceutical patent litigation, regulatory work, opinion work (invalidity, clearance and due diligence), client counseling and arbitration. Since joining Goodwin Procter, Mr. Sandidge has focused on pharmaceutical patent litigation and counseling.
Representative matters include:
- Pronova Biopharma Norge AS v. Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc., Case No. 09-286-SLR-MPT (D.Del.). Representing Teva in a patent infringement litigation filed by Pronova under the Hatch-Waxman Act in response to Teva’s filing of an Abbreviated New Drug Application seeking approval to market a generic version of Pronova’s drug LOVAZA®, omega-3 acid ethyl ester capsules indicated for the treatment of hypertriglyceridemia. This case is currently awaiting decision after trial.
- 01 Communique Laboratory, Inc. and Wi-Lan, Inc. v. Bomgar Corp., Case No. 1:12-cv-003 AJT-TRJ (E.D.Va.). Representing Bomgar in a patent infringement litigation filed by 01 Communique and WiLan under the Patent Act, 35 U.S.C. § 100, et. eq., alleging infringement by Bomgar of U.S. Patent No. 6,928.479, claiming a system computer product and method for providing a private communication portal. This case is currently pending.
- Seattle Children’s Hospital et al. v. Teva Parenteral Medicines, Inc. and Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc., Civil Action No. 09-949 NLH-KW (D. Del.). Representing Teva in a patent infringement litigation filed by Seattle Children’s Hospital and Novartis under the Hatch-Waxman Act in response to Teva’s filing of an Abbreviated New Drug Application seeking approval to market a generic version of Novartis’ drug TOBI®, tobramycin inhalation solution indicated for the treatment of cystic fibrosis. This case settled favorably.
- AstraZeneca LP and AstraZeneca AB v. IVAX Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Civil Action No. 05 CV 05142 RMB-AMD (D.N.J.). Representing Ivax in a patent infringement litigation filed by Pronova under the Hatch-Waxman Act in response to Ivax’s filing of an Abbreviated New Drug Application seeking approval to market a generic version of AstraZeneca’s drug PULMICORT RESPULES®, budesonide inhalation suspension indicated for the maintenance treatment of asthma. This case settled favorably.
- Item Development AB v. Sicor Inc., et al., Civil Action No. 05-336 SLR (D.Del.); King Pharmaceuticals v. Sicor Inc., et al., Civil Action No. 05-337 SLR (D.Del.). Representing Sicor in patent infringement litigations filed by Item, King and Astellas under the Hatch-Waxman Act in response to Sicor’s filing of an Abbreviated New Drug Application seeking approval to market a generic version of Astellas’ drug ADENOSCAN®, adenosine-based product indicated as a pharmacologic stress agent. This case settled favorably after trial.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Mr. Sandidge is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York Bar Association and the New York Intellectual Property Law Association.
Mr. Sandidge’s pro bono work includes representing The Nature Conservancy in a litigation brought by Seven Springs, LLC to establish and easement across a nature preserve in West Chester County, NY. See Seven Springs, LLC v Nature Conservancy 2012 NY Slip Op 03434 Decided on May 1, 2012 Appellate Division, Second Department.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Prior to joining Goodwin Procter, Mr. Sandidge was an associate at Kenyon & Kenyon LLP, where his practice concentrated on patent litigation in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device fields.
BAR AND COURT ADMISSIONS
Mr. Sandidge is admitted to practice in New York and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
RECOGNITION
In 2009, Mr. Sandidge was named Empire State Counsel, which recognizes attorneys who render pro bono legal services for those who could not otherwise afford legal counsel. While attending law school, Mr. Sandidge was an article editor for the Boston University Journal of Science and Technology Law.
