Mark Raffman’s areas of practice include complex litigation (including class actions), product liability (including silica litigation), insurance coverage litigation, professional ethics and liability litigation, domestic and international commercial litigation and arbitration, and toxic tort and environmental litigation. Mr. Raffman has represented clients before state and federal trial and appellate courts, administrative agencies and arbitration panels.

Mr. Raffman has been selected for inclusion in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.

PUBLICATIONS AND PRESENTATIONS

Mr. Raffman serves on the advisory board for Insurance Law and Litigation Week, published by Strafford Publications. He has spoken on silica litigation for the Defense Research Institute and other groups, and has published on insurance coverage issues. While in law school, Mr. Raffman served as Supreme Court Note Editor on the Harvard Law Review.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Mr. Raffman was a partner at Shea & Gardner prior to its combination with Goodwin Procter in 2004. Prior to joining Shea & Gardner in 1987, Mr. Raffman served as a judicial clerk for then-Judge Anthony M. Kennedy on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Mr. Raffman is admitted to the bar of the District of Columbia and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, various federal courts of appeals, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
