Byron Pavano is a partner in the firm’s Business Law Department, focusing primarily on alternative investment funds and related investments. He joined Goodwin Procter in 2005.
WORK FOR CLIENTS
Mr. Pavano represents alternative investment managers and investors in structuring and forming onshore and offshore funds and other pooled investment vehicles, effecting investment transactions and advising on compliance and regulatory matters. In addition, he represents businesses as general corporate and securities law counsel.

Mr. Pavano has also authored articles and spoken at seminars on alternative investment fund regulation and CDO transactions.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Prior to joining Goodwin Procter, Mr. Pavano was an associate in the Business Practice Group at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault in Boston. He also clerked for then-Chief Judge Anne E. Thompson of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey from 1998 to 2000.

Mr. Pavano is admitted to the bar in Massachusetts and New York.
RECOGNITION
While attending law school, Mr. Pavano served as an editor of the Boston College Law Review. His publications include “Life in All Its Fullness: A Discussion of Capitalization v. Deduction,” 39 B.C.L.Rev. 253, 256-57 (1997), also published in the Massachusetts Digest of Tax Articles.
