Gina Martin is a partner in the firm’s Business Law Department, devoting most of her time to the firm’s Financial Restructuring Practice and Leveraged Finance Practice. Her corporate practice has focused on corporate restructurings (both in and out of court), debt financings and acquisitions of distressed businesses. Ms. Martin has been active in all aspects of restructurings of financially distressed businesses, including the representation of corporate debtors and secured and unsecured creditors, including lenders, hedge funds and purchasers of distressed businesses.

Ms. Martin regularly appears in bankruptcy courts throughout the United States on a wide range of issues, including bankruptcy courts in New York, Delaware, Massachusetts, Michigan, Florida, California and Nevada.

WORK FOR CLIENTS

Ms. Martin’s company representations include, among others, The Education Resources Institute, Inc., Bob’s Stores, Inc., Arthur D. Little, Inc., J.L. Hammett Company and Adventis, Inc. She represented bondholder groups in the chapter 11 cases of Adelphia Communications Corporation and Delphi Corp. Ms. Martin has also represented lenders or third party purchasers in the following restructurings, among others, Avado Brands, Inc., London Fog Industries, Inc., Samuels Jewelers, Inc. and Recoton Accessories, Inc.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

Ms. Martin is a member of the Boston and American Bar Associations and the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Ms. Martin is a contributing author to Goodwin Procter’s Municipal Bankruptcy Blog, reporting on a range of topics currently affecting distressed municipalities.

Ms. Martin has been a speaker at several conferences, including conferences sponsored by the American Bankruptcy Institute, IMCA (Investment Management Consultants Association), the Boston Security Analysts Society, Inc., and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc.

Prior to joining Goodwin Procter, Ms. Martin was an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson in New York City.

Ms. Martin is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and New York, and before the U.S. District Courts in Massachusetts, the District of Michigan, the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First and Eleventh Circuit.
