Tom LaFond is a partner in the firm’s Business Department and a member of its Financial Services Group. Mr. LaFond has a broad range of experience in complex securities, regulatory and transactional matters, and focuses on mergers and acquisitions of investment advisers and other financial institutions. He also advises asset managers and banks in structuring and implementing investment products and services, and chairs the firm’s Banking Practice.
WORK FOR CLIENTS
Mr. LaFond advises investment advisers, banks, registered investment companies, private funds and other financial services firms on complex securities, bank regulatory, fiduciary and compliance matters, including the structuring and operation of securities lending programs and the formation and operation of public and private investment funds.
Mr. LaFond’s acquisition experience includes controlling and minority investments, management buyouts (including structuring management arrangements among firm principals), leveraged transactions and joint ventures.

Mr. LaFond is a member of the American Bar Association and the Boston Bar Association.

Mr. LaFond was a law clerk to the Honorable John D. Butzner, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
