Areas of Practice
David Hashmall, leader of the Litigation Department in Goodwin Procter's New York office, has extensive experience in complex commercial disputes at both the trial and appellate levels. Mr. Hashmall’s practice encompasses patent and other intellectual property litigation, as well as business litigations and arbitrations involving securities fraud, breach of contract, shareholder and partnership disputes, defense of issuers and their officers and directors in class and derivative claims, and RICO claims.
Work for Clients
Mr. Hashmall’s substantial experience in intellectual property litigation includes cases involving patent infringement, copyright infringement, unfair competition and corporate raiding of employees. He currently represents a major pharmaceutical company in ANDA litigations brought pursuant to the Hatch-Waxman Act and also in a wide variety of disputes involving licensing and joint-development agreements. He has successfully prosecuted and defended numerous applications for preliminary and permanent injunctive relief in matters involving the theft of trade secrets and enforcement of restrictive covenants.
In the securities field, Mr. Hashmall has successfully defended a prominent New York investment banking firm in a wide range of disputed claims and obtained on behalf of his client a complete defense verdict in a federal jury trial that included allegations of fraud and conversion.

Mr. Hashmall was on the staff of the Annual Survey of American Law at New York University School of Law.

Before joining Goodwin Procter, Mr. Hashmall served as senior partner of Schneck Weltman & Hashmall LLP in New York.
Bar and Court Admissions
Mr. Hashmall is a member of the bar of the State of New York and is also admitted to the bars of the Federal Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
