Teresa Goebel is a partner in the firm’s Business Law Department and a member of the Real Estate, REITs & Real Estate Capital Markets Group. Her practice encompasses a broad range of commercial real estate matters, including hotel transactions, joint ventures, financings and real property sales and acquisitions. She joined Goodwin Procter in 2008.

WORK FOR CLIENTS

Ms. Goebel focuses particularly on the representation of hotel operators and investors in a variety of matters relating to the acquisition, development, financing, management and sale of hotel, resort and fractional ownership properties. She regularly negotiates, structures and documents management agreements and equity and debt investments for hotels, resorts and other mixed use hospitality projects throughout the world, in locations ranging from New York City to Paris to Macau. Ms. Goebel also has significant experience representing lenders and borrowers in financings of various classes of commercial real estate assets located throughout the United States.

Ms. Goebel is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of California and State Bar of New York.

Ms. Goebel recently spoke at the ALIS conference in San Diego as moderator of the “Brand Extensions into Lodging – ‘Chic’ Consumer Brands Enter the Hotel Industry” panel.

While attending law school, Ms. Goebel was the Executive Editor of The University of Chicago Law Review. She is the author of Obtaining Jurisdiction Over States in Bankruptcy Proceedings After Seminole Tribe, 65 U. Chi. L. Rev. 911 (1998).

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Prior to joining Goodwin Procter, Ms. Goebel was an associate in the San Francisco office of Heller Ehrman, where she was a member of its real estate practice group. Ms. Goebel served as a law clerk to Judge David S. Tatel on the federal appeals court in Washington, D.C. after graduating from law school.
