Elizabeth Geise, a partner in the firm's Litigation Department, specializes in litigating and counseling in several areas, primarily toxic torts, environmental law and insurance coverage disputes. Ms. Geise has practiced before state and federal trial and appellate courts and administrative agencies around the country.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

Ms. Geise is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the American Bar Association. She also serves in a pro bono capacity as counsel to the Board of Trustees of St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland.

MEDIA

Ms. Geise is the author or co-author of several publications concerning asbestos and toxic tort litigation, including "Asbestos Reform in the United States," presented at C5's 3rd International Asbestos Claims & Liabilities Conference in January 2007. She has also recently conducted various "webinars" on toxic tort issues, before groups such as the Association of Corporate Counsel and others.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Ms. Geise was a partner at Shea & Gardner prior to its combination with Goodwin Procter in 2004. Before her work with Shea & Gardner, she clerked for the Honorable Benjamin Kaplan of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

BAR AND COURT ADMISSIONS

Ms. Geise is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and Maryland. She is also admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third, Sixth, Seventh, and District of Columbia Circuits.

RECOGNITION

While attending law school, Ms. Geise served as a note editor for the Harvard Law Review.
