Meagan Costello is an associate in the firm’s Business Law Department and a member of its Financial Restructuring Practice. Ms. Costello’s work focuses on all aspects of restructurings, bankruptcy law and acquisitions of distressed assets.  Meagan also represents parties in bankruptcy-related litigations, mediations and settlement negotiations. Ms. Costello joined Goodwin Procter in 2006.

WORK FOR CLIENTS

Ms. Costello regularly represents secured and unsecured creditors and other parties in interest in both out-of-court restructurings and Chapter 11 cases, including in the restructurings of Silicon Graphics, London Fog, Northwest Airlines, Delphi Corporation, Shasta Regional Medical Center, Hospital Partners of America, Electrical Components International, Motor Coach Industries and Leslie Controls. Ms. Costello also represented the mezzanine lenders in the restructuring of a hospitality portfolio, and the senior secured lender in the bankruptcy case of a hotel operator. In addition, she has represented Chapter 11 debtors and distressed companies, including a pharmaceutical company, a nonprofit guarantor of private student loans and a recreational boating company.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

Ms. Costello is a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Ms. Costello has co-authored two client alerts on topics related to municipal bankruptcy and is a contributing author to the Municipal Bankruptcy Blog.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Prior to joining Goodwin Procter, Ms. Costello was an associate at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson LLP.

BAR AND COURT ADMISSIONS

Ms. Costello is admitted to practice in New York, and before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Ms. Costello appears regularly in bankruptcy courts throughout the country.

RECOGNITION

While attending law school, Ms. Costello was a member and the Associate Publications Editor of The St. John’s Law Review.
