David Cappillo is a partner in the firm’s Corporate and Technology Companies Groups. He has extensive experience in corporate, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and growth equity, securities laws and technology licensing areas, with a focus on counseling growth-oriented companies. Mr. Cappillo is a key contributor to the Goodwin Procter Founders Workbench, an online resource for start-ups, emerging companies and the entrepreneurial community.
WORK FOR CLIENTS
Mr. Cappillo represents private and public growth companies in a variety of industries, including new media, Internet, software-as-a-service, enterprise software, e-commerce, IT services and energy. He counsels his clients on corporate finance matters, equity fundraising activities, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, start-up and formation matters, recapitalizations and reorganizations, joint venture and strategic commercial transactions and international expansion.
Mr. Cappillo also represents leading private equity and venture capital investors in connection with venture and growth equity investments in operating companies in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Mr. Cappillo serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Meadowbrook School of Weston and on the Advisory Board of BUILD Boston, a nonprofit helping high school students succeed in school and life. He also serves as a mentor for the MIT $100K Business Plan Competition and for MassChallenge, a global start-up and accelerator program.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Prior to joining Goodwin Procter, Mr. Cappillo was a senior associate in the Business Practice Group at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault LLP in Boston. Before that, he was General Counsel and Director of Business Development at Sockeye Networks, a venture capital backed spin-off of Akamai Technologies.
