Mitchell Bloom, a partner in the firm’s Technology Companies Group and co-chair of its Life Sciences Practice, specializes in representing public and private life science companies, as well as venture capital firms and investment banks focused on the life sciences sector, including biotechnology, medical devices, diagnostics and health care information technology.
Work for Clients
Mr. Bloom regularly counsels his clients on general corporate matters and corporate finance, including, venture capital transactions, public offerings of equity and debt, mergers and acquisitions, SEC compliance and corporate governance. He also regularly advises his client on technology acquisitions, licensing and strategic alliances. In addition, Mr. Bloom spends a significant amount of time working with early stage and start-up companies assisting them with formation, seed financing and founder arrangements.
Professional Activities
Mr. Bloom has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. He is a member, through the firm, of the Biotechnology Industry Organization, Massachusetts Biotechnology Council and MassMEDIC. Mr. Bloom is also a member of the American, Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations.
Publications/Presentations
Mr. Bloom is the editor of Due Diligence in Massachusetts, published by MCLE. He has also presented on various topics related to the life science industries including public offerings, venture financings, start-up issues and due diligence.

Prior to joining Goodwin Procter, Mr. Bloom was a partner at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault in Boston, where he was a member of the Business Practice Group and co-chair of its Life Sciences Practice.
