Goodwin Recognized in Inaugural “IAM Patent Litigation 250”
Goodwin Procter’s Patent Litigation Practice was honored in the inaugural “IAM Patent Litigation 250 – The World’s Leading Patent and Technology Licensing Practitioners for 2010,” a directory published by Intellectual Asset Management ("IAM") magazine. The patent litigation team was ranked in Massachusetts, where commentators said that “in patent litigation, the firm has built an extremely strong practice,” and in New York, with IAM commenting, “the firm has a particularly strong pharmaceutical patent litigation practice representing generic manufacturers, most notably Teva Pharmaceuticals.” Goodwin was also praised for “whatever the technical concepts involved, the firm’s trial lawyers can explain the intricacies to judges and jurors in clear, incisive terms.”
Four Goodwin attorneys were recognized as standout practitioners in patent litigation. J. Anthony Downs was hailed as a “particularly talented straight shooter” while it was noted that Douglas J. Kline is a “draw for clients.” David M. Hashmall was lauded as a “seasoned, hardnosed trial litigator who gets the job done” and Mark J. Abate “possesses a great deal of talent as a litigator.”
Goodwin’s Patent Litigation practice works with clients to take cases from pre-suit investigations through discovery proceedings and trials. The firm’s attorneys provide counsel on infringement, validity and patentability issues, and when necessary, litigate patents in federal district courts throughout the country. Goodwin’s attorneys have substantial experience before the Federal Circuit, the International Trade Commission, the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. The firm works in some of the most active jurisdictions in the country, including the Eastern District of Texas, Eastern District of Virginia, Southern District of New York, Northern District of California and the Southern District of California.
Published in May 2011, IAM conducted research over a three-month period with attorneys and in-house counsel to compile the rankings. To view the results, click here for Massachusetts and here for New York.
