2008 Fellowship Recipients

Sambo “Bo” Dul is a student at the NYU School of Law, where she serves as the Staff Editor to the school’s Law Review and is an AnBryce and Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Scholar. Bo has an impressive academic and experiential background. Her passion for refugee resettlement work is apparent through her past involvement with Amnesty International and the Arizona Refugee Resettlement Program. Additionally, Bo volunteers as a translator and liaison for the Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project. Bo graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University, where she received a B.A. in Political Science, a B.S. in Economics and a B.A. in Spanish. When she was a sophomore in college, she created COAR - Community Outreach & Advocacy for Refugees, with the goal of raising public awareness of refugee issues and engaging the community in resettlement efforts. While COAR began as a student organization, by the time Bo had graduated from college it had grown into a successful 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. Today, Bo serves as a Board Member of the organization and remains committed to COAR’s continuing growth and development. Bo also completed a Public Policy and International Affairs Fellowship at Princeton University. Bo will be a 2008 Summer Associate in Goodwin Procter’s Boston office.

Minh-Chau “Chau” Nguyen Le is the first recipient of the newly founded Goodwin Procter/Mass Mutual Diversity Fellowship. Currently a student at Columbia University School of Law, Chau is actively involved in a variety of activities. She is a Staff Editor for the Columbia Human Rights Law Review, director of the Society for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and is a member of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. Chau has a MSc in Forced Migration from the University of Oxford and an A.B. in Economics from Harvard, where she graduated cum laude. She is a committed leader and her ability to clearly articulate her thoughts is coupled with her contagious enthusiasm and hard work. As the Programmes Officer for JRS Tanzania – Radio Kwizera, the UNHCR (UN refugee Agency) radio station, she directed a staff of 70. Prior to attending law school, Chau worked as a Financial Analyst for two years at Wachovia Securities. Chau was a 2007 Summer Associate in Goodwin Procter’s Boston office and will return to the firm’s Boston office as a Summer Associate for 2008. As part of the Goodwin Procter/MassMutual Fellowship program, Chau will also work for MassMutual’s legal department in Springfield, Massachusetts, for two weeks during the summer. |

Elise Leung attends UC Hastings Law School, where she was honored with the Witkin/CALI Awards for the highest grade in Civil Procedure, Contracts, Torts, Property and Legal Writing & Research. She is currently a member of the Jessup International Moot Court Team and the Hastings Law Journal, and received Honorable Mentions as for her Moot Court Brief and as an oralist in the Moot Court competition. Last summer, Elise served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Carlos R. Moreno of the Supreme Court of California. Elise completed her undergraduate studies at Boston University’s School of Management, where she pursued a dual concentration in Finance and Accounting. She is a member of the Asian American Bar Association and is a participant in the mentorship program. Elise, a Certified Public Accountant, has extensive professional experience, having worked for Ernst & Young and Deloitte & Touche, LLP before attending law school. Elise will be a 2008 Summer Associate in the San Francisco office.

Kathleen Roblez currently attends Harvard Law School, where she is involved in several activities, serving as the Executive Editor of the Latino Law Review, the Outreach Director and a Board Member of the Harvard Defenders, the Cultural Chair of La Alianza, and as an Admitted Students Tour Guide. Kat holds a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish, as well as a minor in Science, Technology and Values from the University of Notre Dame. During her time at Notre Dame, she received the Logan Center’s “Volunteer of the Year” award, as well as Notre Dame’s “Overall Club Officer of the Year” award, both in connection with her work for Best Buddies, a community service organization that pairs college students with adults with mental disabilities in an effort to form lasting friendships. Kat is an innovative leader who is dedicated to finding meaningful work. Kat will be a 2008 Summer Associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. |

Megon Walker is a Harvard Law School student who developed an ingrained self-reliance and independence at a young age. She is a subciter and research assistant for the Harvard Journal of Law and Technology and is the placement committee co-chair of the Black Law Students Association. She is also student attorney at a legal services center, focusing on predatory lending and bankruptcy. She received her Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from Boston University and was the youngest doctoral student to enter the Boston University bioinformatics program, as well as the only student of color and the only female Ph.D. student of her graduating class. At B.U., Megon was the Director of the Helping Hands for the Homeless organization. Megon graduated with highest honors from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in Biotechnology. Megon will be a 2008 Summer Associate in Goodwin Procter’s Boston office.
